About Beech Custom Absolute Nouveau

The Beech Custom Absolute is for the drummer who's looking for something a little different, a subtle alternative to the more familiar maple and birch. If you fancy a change from the tightness of birch or the openness of maple then beech might be your salvation. Beech is as hard a wood as birch, but with its wider grain seems to emphasise the mid and low frequencies with a little more sustain. It's a powerful, lively sound, though not quite so wide as maple.

The Beech Custom Absolute has different ply configurations from the Maple and Birch Custom Absolutes. The 8" and 10" tom toms are 6ply and 6mm thick, while the other tom toms and floor toms - from 12" through to 18" - are 6-ply and 7.5mm thick. The bass drums are 8-ply and 10mm thick. Each bass drum has five air holes which allow the displaced air column to escape more easily as you play. This is particularly important today now that front heads are often left intact.

The 100% beech wood plies are laminated using Yamaha's exclusive Air Seal System which ensures that every drum shell is perfectly round and of uniform thickness. The shells are finished on the outside with extremely tough polyurethane in a range of glorious colours. The nine-step, seven day finishing process provides a rich deep lustre, the culmination of over a century of acoustic instrument manufacturing. The extraordinary Vintage Natural is a special synthetic resin, applied by hand to produce a golden honey sheen which will mature with age. While enhancing the tone of the beech, the vintage finish virtually eliminates the influence of weather and humidity.

All drums are fitted with Yamaha's Enhanced Sustain System (YESS) which provides minimum mount to shell contact to increase the drum's resonance and sustain.

Beech Custom Absolute drums are available in 3 shell pack configurations or as individual shells allowing you to build your perfect set of drums in the sizes you want to play.

The price of Beech Custom Absolute individual drums does not include any tom arms which need to be purchased separately.

It is worth bearing in mind that although there is normally a limited stock of Beech Custom Absolute drums available for immediate purchase, most kits would be Special Order, made exclusively for the customer and shipped from Japan, taking between 4 - 6 months.
