About Oak Custom

With the new Oak Custom Yamaha brings the rich appearance and powerful sound of the mighty oak to a mid-high end, professional quality drum set. Shells are constructed from 100% oak—a material known for its brilliant grain, unsurpassed strength and durability. The Oak Custom produces a distinctive, bright and remarkably loud, yet harmonically rich, sound that is particularly ideal for live performance.

Bass drums are 7-ply and 7.7 mm thick, while rack toms, floor toms and snare drums are 6-ply and 6 mm thick. All the bass drums are 17" deep and are available in 20", 22" and 24" diameters with Remo PowerStroke III batter heads, while the 18" deep bass drum has a Remo Coated Ambassador batter. The 18" bass drum is also fitted with our new Floating System which ensures the bass drum beater strikes the centre of the head.

Another special feature of the Oak Custom line is the 'universal' dimension tom-toms which lie between traditional 'jazz' and 'power' sizes. These particular dimensions have been found to result in improved sound projection. The range is made even more versatile by the specially extended choice of floor toms in 13", 14", 15", 16" and 18" diameters. The toms of course feature our acclaimed YESS suspension mounting system which maximises projection and resonance.

The Oak Custom has its own unique look with newly designed, small rounded lug casings. These attach to the shell with a single bolt, which further allows the drums to resonate freely and deliver an open sound. Finally, special mention must be made of the exquisite finishes. This is our first ever oak kit and the all-new finishes have been developed to take full advantage of this beautiful traditional hard wood. You can choose from no less than four matte and three gloss finishes which are all designed to enhance the oak's luxurious grain.

What Do I Get For My Money

Oak Custom drums are available in 3 shell pack configurations or as individual shells allowing you to build your perfect set of drums in the sizes you want to play.

The price of Oak Custom individual drums does not include any tom arms which need to be purchased separately.

It is worth bearing in mind that although there is normally a limited stock of Oak Custom drums available for immediate purchase, most kits would be Special Order, made exclusively for the customer and shipped from Japan, taking between 4 - 6 months.
