About 2002
During the 1960's, developing Beat and Rock music required cymbal sounds to match the new frequencies and volume levels and in 1967 the Giant Beat series was created. From that the 2002 was developed in 1971 fusing the power of the Giant Beat with the differentiation of the Jazz series Formula 602. After many additions and transformations over the following decades, today's 2002 returns to the classic lineup of the 1970's
Made from Paiste's own CuSn8 Bronze, also known as "2002 Bronze", these cymbals were the first cymbal series fully developed for electronically amplified music. Using hand hammering and hand lathing during manufacturing, they are ideal for medium to very loud settings both live and and in the recording studio. Perfect for a wide range of musical styles including Rock, R&B, Jazz-Rock, Progressive, Metal, and modern hybrids rooted in those styles, these cymbals are used by countless top players world-wide. Paiste 2002 can be heard on a huge number of recordings from the past three decades making up a significant portion of our modern music heritage.
