About Starclassic Snare Drums

Tama craftsmen are obsessed with carrying on the tradition of creating the finest quality shells with the most elaborate finishes. Available in 7 different shell configurations, Starclassic snare drums achieve maximum resonance and full tonal range. From the the softest touch to the hardest hit, the shell responds to the player's command.

Bubinga Omni-Tune

Bubinga, a strong and consistent African wood has been added to the Starclassic series. The Bubinga shells are slightly thicker than those of the Starclassic Maple. Bubinga shells have an incredibly powerful and well-balanced sound with solid attack and rich resonant lows. And Starclassic Bubinga Omni-Tune snare drums fitted with the Omni-Tune Lug that enables tuning from both the top and bottom heads from the batter side.

Bubinga

Bubinga, a strong and consistent African wood has been added to the Starclassic series. These Bubinga shells are slightly thicker than those of the Starclassic Maple. Bubinga shells have an incredibly powerful and well-balanced sound with solid attack and rich resonant lows.

The outer Maple ply allows Tama to offer a much wider selection of colours.

G-Maple

Tama's new Starclassic G Maple snare drums feature 13-ply 10mm thick shells in 6" and 8" depths. The sound is tight and solid with an emphasized high-end "crack." Each drum's beautiful abalone center inlay is set by hand. Available in GSB (Gold Sunburst), CBK (Cherry Black) and SMP (Super Maple) finishes. 2 sizes are available 14"x06" & 14"x08"

Maple

The Starclassic Maple snare drums comes with a thin 5mm shell, made from Canadian maple wood, which offers high solidity and flexibility. Increased strength is provided by Sound Focus Rings cut from the same wood as the snare drum. This snare drum combines incredible power with maple's intense and warm tone. Equipped with 10 lugs to ensure precise and balanced tuning. Zinc die-cast hoops provide superior upper end crack and response.

Performer B/B

Starclassic Performer B/B combines the classic tone of thin birch for the outer layer of the shell, along with a new, heavy duty African wood Bubinga for the inner shell. The use of the thicker, harder Bubinga accentuates Birch's distinct tone and projection. The combination of the two creates a more powerful, deeply rounded sound all its own!

Copper

The Starclassic 14"x5.5" Copper snare features a 1.5mm copper shell that has a slightly darker sound than bronze or brass. While the use of die-cast hoops contributes to the drum's powerful attack the overall sound is still well-rounded and controlled. The brushed copper shell gives this great sounding drum its classic, vintage look, which is perfectly complemented by brushed nickel shell hardware.

Brass

The Starclassic 14"x5.5" Brass snare features a 1.5mm shell that has softer sound than steel, but still has cut through the din. Die-cast hoops contributes to the drum's powerful attack the overall sound, but still it has sensitivity and response. The nickel plated shell with brushed nickel shell hardware makes great contrast of appearance.
