These new snare drums represent a collaboration with some of Yamaha’s world-renowned drummers. Each instrument has unique characteristics that cover any style of music.

The Maple Custom is the most luxurious of the Yamaha drum series. Maple Custom snare drums are designed for their consistency and warmth, great sustain and wide dynamic range. these snares offer a warm sound, a wide open tone with long decay and outstanding projection. The shells are 7mm 7-ply maple with 45 degree bearing edges and a 1.8mm deep snare bed. There are three sizes: 14”x6.5”, 14”x5.5” and 14”x4”.

Absolute Nouveau Snare Drums are available in the same three wood choices as their matching tom toms and bass drums, Maple, Birch and Beech. The Custom Absolute snare have 45 degree bearing edges and a 1.8mm deep snare bed. There are three sizes: 14"x6.5", 14”x5.5” and 14"x4". Yamaha's revolutionary Nouveau Lugs utilize a flotaing design that eliminates contact between the lug casing and shell so the shell can resonate freely. Their quick release design also provides for very quick head changes and reduces the risk of losing washers since it is no longer necessary to entirely remove the tuning bolt from the lug to remove the rim.

Featuring a shell made of 6 (Musashi) or 7 (Custom) plies of Oak, oak snare drums have the right balance of "crack" and warmth to fit into most musical situations.

The most popular shell delivers a sharp and solid tone with a slightly longer decay. Steel shell drums are available in 14" and the smaller diameter 13-inch configurations. The steel lineup also includes two 12-inch configurations and a 10-inch model. These three small diameter shells are fitted with rod clamps so you can attach the snare drum to a tom stand and sue it as an effect snare.

The Yamaha Aluminium snare drum has a 2mm thick shell and delivers a bright, sharp tone with a delay that's lighter and shorter than steel.

The 1.5mm Brass shell snare has a rich, broad tone that's balanced and well defined. These new Brass shells are designed thicker than previous models to deliver a more powerful tone.

The Yamaha 1.5mm Copper shell has a good low-end and excellent response. Sounds great as the focal point of any drum kit whilst versatile enough for orchestral use.

The Stage Custom series encompasses standard size 14”x5.5” drums with the Nouveau lug design, plus a range of snares in the Stage CUstom Advantage line featuring a special smaller-size series of three wood-shelled drums. These measure 13”x5”, 12”x5” and 10”x5” and have previously been unavailable in this series.
