About Maple Custom Snare Drums

Maple Custom snares offer a warm sound, a wide open tone with long decay and outstanding projection. The shells are 7mm 7-ply maple with 45 degree bearing edges and a 1.8mm deep snare bed. There are three sizes: 14"x6.5", 14"x5.5" and 14"x4".

Maple Custom drums are distinguished by their small cube-shaped gold-plated lugs. These precision machined lugs are attached by a single bolt at the shell's nodal point thus allowing the shell to resonate freely. They also have plastic spacers which reduce dampening of the shell's vibration and protect the shell's finish. For superior strength and also to help focus the sound, we fitted 3mm die-cast aluminum rims. Standard length 20-strand stainless steel wire snares give a bright, rich and crisp sound. The Vintage finish drum has a gold-plated traditional P-type strainer and butt strainer, while the lacquered finish drums have chrome-plated H-type and G-type strainers. Smaller HP and GP versions of the strainers are fitted to the shallow 4" model. All strainers have extra smooth action, vertical adjustment and key bolt fasteners.

Colour Options

The Maple Custom shells have a high gloss lacquer exterior finish with a satin lacquer interior, except for the Vintage Natural model which has a special hand-rubbed resin applied inside and out.
