Musashi Oak

Featuring a shell made of 6 plies, oak snare drums have the right balance of "crack" and warmth to fit into most musical situations. The included groove wedge with the 12"x06" gives you the added ability to play a cross-stick for ballads not possible on other 12-inch drums. The 13" Oak Shell is bright but the 6.5" depth gives it lots of body. This drum works well as a secondary side snare or as your main snare drum in virtually any musical situation. The snare beds are cut at 2.7mm so that the snares will lay flat across the snare head and reducing the tendency to vibrate when you play your bass drum and toms.

Oak Custom

As with the rest of the Oak Custom series the two new snare drums have a powerful sound with a deep fundamental tone and excellent attack. The shells are 6-ply 6mm 100% oak with 45 degree bearing edges and 1.8mm deep snare beds.

The drums have 10 separate, newly designed, rounded chrome lugs per head. Each lug is fixed to the drum shell by a single bolt, thus allowing maximum shell vibration. The 2.3mm chromed steel DynaHoop rims provide pinpoint, stable tuning with cracking rim-shots. Remo Ambassador coated batter and snare side heads are supplied as standard.

A feature unique to the Oak Custom snare drums is the incorporation of an additional short snare beneath the (top) batter head. An adjustment knob regulates snare pressure against the head as required. The bottom head is fitted with a normal hi-carbon steel snare which has 25 strands on the 7" drum and 20 strands on the 5.5" drum.

The release-side strainer is our new H-type with minimum strainer to shell contact. On the butt side there is a B-type butt plate. All Yamaha's strainers have extra smooth action, vertical adjustment and key bolt fasteners.

The snare drums are offered in finishes which match the rest of the Oak Custom series drums. These exquisite new finishes have been developed to take full advantage of the traditional beauty of oak. You can choose from no less than four matte and three gloss finishes which are all designed to enhance the oak's luxurious grain.
